Safety First

Web3 gives you full control of your assets — but that also means full responsibility.
Unlike traditional finance, if you lose your funds to a scam or sign the wrong transaction, there is no “undo.”
Here’s how to protect yourself.

Protect your Seed Phrase

Never share your seed phrase under any circumstances — with anyone, ever.
It gives full and irreversible access to your funds.

If you ever need to enter it into a new wallet, triple-check that you’re using the official wallet and not a malicious copy.

Use advanced wallets

Not all wallets are equal. Choose wallets that:

  • Show clear transaction previews (what you’re signing).
  • Support multi-chain and smart routing.
  • Have active teams and strong security audits.

Examples: Phantom, Rabby, Nightly.

Never sign blind transactions

Don’t approve transactions that give a dApp unlimited spending power over your tokens.

If you see a request like “Allow this site to withdraw all your USDC”stop immediately.

Only approve what you really need (e.g. spend 100 USDC, not unlimited).

This is what it looks like on a transaction :

Install Pocket Universe

Pocket Universe is a browser extension that acts as a “firewall” for your wallet.

It simulates the transaction before you sign and tells you:

  • Which tokens will move
  • Whether it looks suspicious
  • If it matches the app’s intention

Think of it as your bestfriend warning you if you are goind to be scammed.

Know the most common scams

  • Phishing links → fake airdrops, Discord/Twitter DMs, fake customer support.
  • Malicious approvals → unlimited token spending, rug-pull contracts.
  • Impersonation → fake tokens, fake apps with almost identical names.
  • Social engineering → “Send me 1 ETH, I’ll send you 2 back.”

According to Chainalysis report, over $1B in assets were lost to scams in a year, mostly via phishing and malicious smart contracts.

Best Practices to Stay Safe

📑 Bookmark official links

Never trust Google search results. Scammers buy ads and spoof domains. Bookmark the real links once, and always use them.

🔍 Verify smart contracts

Always check contract addresses on explorers (Etherscan, Solscan, etc).
Only interact with verified, official contracts.

🔐 Use a hardware wallet

For large amounts, keep funds on Ledger or Trezor. Hardware wallets keep your private keys offline — safe from hacks.

🧩 Separate your wallets

One wallet for daily trading/DeFi, another cold wallet for long-term storage.
If one is compromised, not all your funds are lost.

📢 Stay updated

Scams evolve constantly. Follow trusted sources, keep wallets/extensions updated, and stay alert for new attack patterns.

👥 Double-check identities

If someone “well-known” contacts you (trader, influencer, project founder), verify it’s really them before trusting anything.
Scammers often impersonate trusted figures with fake profiles.

Summary

Web3 is powerful, but with power comes responsibility. Follow these golden rules:

  • Don’t sign unlimited approvals.
  • Use advanced wallets.
  • Add Pocket Universe for transaction simulations.
  • Learn the common scam patterns.
  • Secure your assets with hardware and good habits.
  • Never move funds if someone asks you to

Regarding Fogo, you can use Fogo checker to check X handle, Discord ID, website Url, token address, etc.

If you follow these rules, you’ll be far ahead of most users — and far safer.
